Please visit the FAQ section for updates on COVID-19 and Scouting

We are an adventure and activity group run for young people from 8 to 18 years of age.  If you are keen for adventure, challenge and fun, like to meet new people and make new friends, and want to learn amazing skills that will prepare you for life, then this is the group for you!

Scouting is all about teaching children and young adults to “Be Prepared” for life’s challenges and helping them to develop a strong sense of self and community responsibility… while having a great time!

Scouting encourages kids to have fun, to make new friends, to get involved in outdoor adventure, to participate in community service and to pursue fulfilling personal interests.

If you are interested in visiting for a free three-week trial period, then come along to a meeting or contact us for further information.

COVID-19 Update - FAQ's

Will scouts be stopping due to the COVID-19 Outbreak?

Whist we have had to change the way that we deliver our scouting program since the COVID-19 outbreak, it doesn't mean that scouting has stopped! It just means we will be scouting a little bit differently.

Why don't you just stop scouting till we can meet in person again?

We believe that it's times like this, where scouting is needed more than ever! With COVID-19 restrictions in place, staying connected, having 'shared' activities and keeping busy are really important! Scouting may be a bit different to normal, but this is something that scouting  teaches us - resilience. Dealing with set-backs, banding together to find solutions and being part of a community that looks out for each other is what scouting is all about! We've got this!

How will scouting continue whilst we are social distancing and self-isolating?

You might be wondering how an organisation that focuses on the outdoors will continue to run if we are not allowed to meet together! We get creative is how!

We will be running our meetings through an online portal that lets everyone log in, 'meet' and get on with scouting! We're looking forward to running our first 'Virtual Camp' where you can camp in your own backyard or living room and we'll all log in to our virtual spaces to get together!

We'll be running activities, special 'missions', making videos (How to's, camp equipment reviews etc) and doing badgework 'together' just like we always have!

We're also encouraging our youth members to get creative and share their ideas for our virtual scouting. Just as always.....Youth Led/Adult Supported.

We'll still be doing as much 'outdoors' stuff as we can! Cubs and Scouts might want to make their own shelter in the backyard, make a native bee hotel, start a vegie garden then use the produce to cook a meal outside....there are many opportunities out there! And we're going to be setting special 'Lockdown Missions' to our members (and their families ) to keep everyone busy and connected!

I wanted to join Montmorency Scouts before COVID-19 restrictions started? Do I have to wait?

Of course not! We'll still be welcoming new members during this period. In fact, it's a great time to start (both for kids and parents!) as we'll be doing lots of things that will keep our members busy, part of a community and stop the boredom!!!!

We'll still be offering our '3 for free' sessions (attend three 'meetings' free of charge to see if scouting is for you) and will issue you with a temporary log in to the Virtual Scout Portal during this time. If you decide to continue on and join scouts, you will then receive your permanent log in. We've invested new members online and presented badges and scarves throughout lockdown.

Is the hall still available to hire?

Due to current health regulations, we will not be taking bookings for hall hire until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.

Please check the website for updates on when the hall hire bookings will resume.
